The Big Picture : India at G-7 meeting

External affairs minister S Jaishankar is on a four-day visit to the United Kingdom to participate in the G7 Foreign and Development ministers’ meeting.

It is the first in-person summit of the foreign ministers of G – 7 which comprises of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the US, and the UK plus the European Union.

India, along with Australia, South Korea, South Africa, and the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have been invited as guests to the meeting.

In addition to being part of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will take part in several bilaterals – that could include one with UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and also with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

On The Big Picture today, we will talk about the significance of the first in-person G7 meeting in two years and amid a pandemic… the issues that will be on the agenda and what India’s participation at the G7 meeting means…
